Projecting Future CSFP Participation with Link2Feed

Overview

The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) caseload is adjusted by USDA based on:

  • Current participation levels
  • Caseload requests from agencies
  • The number of eligible seniors

✅ Outcome: By following this guide, you can forecast future CSFP participation, strengthen your caseload requests, and ensure your food bank is ready to meet demand.

1. Identify Future-Eligible Seniors

Why it matters: Seniors who will soon age into eligibility are strong indicators of future caseload needs.

Steps:

  1. Go to Visit Export (if you do not have access to the export tool, please reach out to your network admin).

  2. Set the Age filter to 59 - 60.

  3. Select fields for Receiving the Following Social Programs under Household/Main Client.

  4. Export results.

  5. Cross-reference the export in your spreadsheet to find seniors already receiving social programs (likely to qualify for CSFP soon).

2. Monitor Caseload Levels

Why it matters: Caseload reports show how many slots are being used vs. available, plus how many clients are served daily.

Steps: Please see Report Setup Foundations (click here) for information on basic setup steps for all reports. 

  1. Go to Reports > US Reports > CSFP Case Load Report.

  2. Review:

    • Caseloads assigned to each agency

    • Number of CSFP clients served

    • Balance of caseloads left for the reporting period

    • Daily visit totals and client counts

3. Track Waitlists and Denials

Why it matters: Waitlists and denials are evidence of unmet demand — a key data point for future caseload requests.

Steps:

  1. Navigate to Clients > CSFP Kit Issuance > Select All Clients (if you do not have access to the CSFP kit issuance tool, please reach out to your network admin).

  2. Use the Status filter to select Waiting List or Denied.

  3. Export the list using Copy, CSV, or Print View.

  • Run these reports/export monthly or quarterly to spot trends over time.

  • Use exports to create charts showing projected growth (e.g., seniors aging in, retention rates, unmet need).

  • Combine caseload, retention, and waitlist data for a complete picture of future participation needs.
