Improvements published in the 2.12.0 Field Changes Rollout Release include a handful of Global enhancements, along with several US- and Canada-specific improvements.
These updates will be pushed to the test server on June 10th and released on the live site on July 11th.
Please review the following release notes carefully to familiarize yourself with the new functionality.
This article covers the following topics:
Global Available Updates
The areas of the intake process that were originally labelled with the title Gender have been updated to read Gender Identity. This has been updated in the Fields section, on the Personal and Activity tabs, in the Reports area, in the self-enrollment and online booking tool (CNCT) and within the export view.
The Gender Identity list (previously the Gender list) will now allow Network Admins to create additional gender identities and map them to the system’s standardized parent types Male, Female, Transgender, None of These. This update will also enable clients to have their selected new value saved to their profile.
Per the Feeding America National Office’s Data Glossary, Link2Feed has created a new Parent Type in the Other Allergen list.
Self Identifies List Improvements
Previously, the Self Identifies list options were locked. With this update, Link2Feed will unlock this list, setting the list’s current options as Parent Types. Network Admins will now be able to create their own options provided they are mapped to a parent type.
Field Information Tooltips
Network admins will now be able to set contextual tooltips for every field in the intake process via a new Intake Questions tab. These tooltips will show when a client clicks on the ? icon next to each field title.

US Specific Updates
2 ITEMS REQUIRE US NETWORK ADMIN FEEDBACK
SUBMIT FEEDBACK FOR ITEMS 1 & 2 BELOW HERE
1. Monthly Income Tab
Three options will now be available for tracking income: detailed tracking (the current method, which shows the income source and/or $ amount), tracking just the total monthly amount, or do not track at all.
There are three ways that you can choose to implement this update and migrate your client data:
I want to keep my current detail tracking method – no migration required.
I will shut off monthly income – no migration required; you will be responsible for shutting this field off in the Admin Panel following the public launch on July 11 (Link2Feed will not make this change on your behalf)
I want to track total monthly income – migration required.
NOTE: There is no reverting back to the previous detailed tracking method once the data has been migrated. As such, please carefully consider your options before submitting your decision.
Feedback is required by June 3 – if we do not receive your decision by that date, we will leave your system set to the current detailed tracking method.
2. Track SNAP as a Separate Yes/No Option
A unique question concerning the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is now available in the Income section – this was previously grouped in with other Social Program options.
Network Admins are required to advise us on how they wish to handle SNAP going forward:
- I don’t track SNAP at this time.
- I want to track SNAP independently using the new Yes/No question.
- I want to continue to track SNAP within a List of Household Social Programs.
- I want to track both – Track SNAP independently as a Yes/No question AND track additional Household Social Programs in a separate area.
Feedback is required by June 3 – if we do not receive your decision by that date, we will update your current setup to reflect option 2 and continue to track a range of Household Social Programs (your Social Program’s list will remain as it currently is with this migration: i.e. if SNAP is currently in your Social Programs list it will remain; if it isn’t in your list, it will not be included as part of the migration.)
NO NETWORK ADMIN FEEDBACK NEEDED
Monthly Income Tab Updates
The Social Programs section will be renamed to Household Social Programs as this section now tracks programs by Household rather than Individual.
New Field: Disability
- A new intake field titled Disability has been created in the Personal section. This is in addition to the Self Identifies As field which currently exists in the Personal section.
- The Disability Field can be turned On/Off by an Network Admin under the Admin Fields in Settings.
- For more information, check out the following user manual page:
Housing List Improvements
Previously, the Housing list options were locked. With this update, Link2Feed will unlock this list, setting the list’s current options as Parent Types. Network Admins will now be able to create their own options provided they are mapped to a parent type.

Canada Specific Updates
The areas of the intake process that were originally labelled with the title Ethnicity have been updated to read Racial Identity per Food Banks Canada’s requirement. This has been updated on the Personal tab, in the Reports area, in the self-enrollment and online booking tool (CNCT) and within the export view for non-CSFP columns.
The Racial Identity list (previously the Ethnicity list) will now allow Canadian Network Admins to create additional racial identities and map them to the system’s standardized parent types. The list will include locked Didn’t Ask, Don’t Know and Prefer Not to Answer options.
These updates will be pushed to the test server on June 10 and released on the live site on July 11.
