Creating and running Report Templates is a great way to save your favorite report settings and quickly generate the reports you use most often.
Here’s an easy guide to getting started!
How to Create a New Template
- Start with a New Report: Set up the report just how you want it.
- Adjust Your Settings: Configure all the details as if you were about to run the report. Need a hand? Check out our Report Setup Foundations.
- Save Your Template: Instead of running the report, click Save Template at the bottom right. This will save your settings without running the report.
Remember, saving a template won’t run the report. You’ll need to run it manually later.
How to Run a Templated Report
- Go to Report Templates: Find this on the left-hand menu under Reports.
- Select Your Template: Click the gray Create Report button next to your template.
- Run the Report: You’ll be taken to the New Report page with your template settings pre-filled. Review or adjust them, and click Run Report at the bottom right.
Any changes you make when running the report won’t be saved to your template. If you need to update the template itself, follow the steps below.
How to View and Edit Report Templates

Access Your Templates: Under Reports, click Report Templates on the left-hand side.

View Your List: You’ll see a list of all your saved templates, including details like:
- Name: The name of the template.
- Type: The type of report.
- Created At: When the template was created.
- Updated At: When it was last updated.

Edit Your Template: Click the blue pencil icon next to the template you want to modify. You’ll be taken to the Edit Template page. Make your changes and click Save at the bottom right.
And voilà! You’re all set to create and run reports with ease.
